Hi everyone - I'm a newbie on here!
My husband and I have been married for 9 years (he's 32, I'm 31) and has had diagnosed Chrohns for 4 years, but only really started to have obvious and aggravated symptoms for the last 12 months. We have a beautiful 18 month old son and would love to add to our family soon.
He has just started on Imuran two weeks ago (200mg- not sure if this is a high dose ??), is weaning down of pred (was 50, down to 12 and should be off in 4 mths) and is also taking 8mg of Warfarin for a sub-clavian (vein from brain in neck- dvt) and lung blood clots that supposedly this disease caused a year ago (but we still have to manage it - quite interesting to say the least when he has to have vitamin K shots from a Chrohn's bleed!)
So, my question to all of you out there is how safe is conceiving on Imuran and/or Pred for males? Does it affect fertility? Does it cause risk of birth defects? There is crap-all (excuse the pun!) on the net other than a few random small studies and most info and threads I can find on this site are in relation to females and pregnancy.
What have your GI docs said? What have you heard from other Chrohn's dads?
REALLY keen to hear from as many of you as possible as we dont really get much info from his GI here in Melbourne, Australia.

p.s. Hubby still has his head in the sand a little about it all, so atm I'm the one doing all the research until he feels like he can get on top of things
