Hello all - I am new and hoping to get some guidance.

I have been throwing up and had severe nausea last 3 weeks along with SHARP stomach pains high up on my left side under my heart area. Especially when I lay down I can not breath and kind of feels like I am having a heart attack. Or what I would think a heart attack feels like.

I am 38. I ended up in the ER a week a part due to severe nausea and dehydration. First time they blew my veins 4 times trying to get in an IV and just couldnt so they drew blood with a butterfly and gave me electorlytes in a cup to drink and zofran under my tongue. They gave me cipro along with zofran for at home thinking it was my kidneys and I was getting an infection and thought my chest pain was panic attacks.

A week after that I was back in the ER with severe nausea again and severe dehydration and severe pain in same area. Cant breath when I lay down and doc said my WBC was elevated. They gave me lots of fluids after having to insert the iv right into my thumb bone - that hurt like hell! They also gave me a big dose of zofran, a big shot in the butt of antibotics and a shot of diluadid even though i tried to refuse pain meds. Sent me home with more zofran. They gave me a bottle with 4 pills in and a script for 12 more since it was middle of the night.

5 days after that I go to my family doctor as my insurance started July 1st. I was severe nauseated again. They gave me zofran on the spot again, sent me straight in for ct scan. Blood work was ok so they sent me home. The doc called later that afternoon to say all was good on my ct scan and stay on a liquid diet for 3 days continue with zofran - she called in 20 pills to my pharmacy.

The next morning which was this past tuesday the doctor calls me right at 830 Am and says that my small intestine was inflammed. Asked me to continue zofran and let them know how I was doing. They also asked that I take some miralax because I did have a good bit of stool. I havent had a BM in 2 weeks but didnt think much of it since I havent kept down foods either.

Now it is Sunday - I FINALLY had a bm today - oh my god I thought I was dying.... and my stomach on the left area still hurts super bad especially when I lay down and I am still nauseated. I am drinking fluids, taking zofran, and trying to lay propped up but I have severe lower back so that is easier said than done.

So with my small intestine being inflammed - do I need to look into further test or does a inflammed intestine eventually go away????

I do not have a gall bladder it was removed in 1998 so that ruled that out and they said I had no stones from my kidneys and that my kidneys did look good and no signs of infection when they ran labs.

So do I try to make appt tomorrow for a doc to look further into my small intestine? Doc did mention IBD when I was in the office about to go for my CT scan - so I am confused..... Any advice?????

Thank you!

Oh and I might add that my potassium was also SEVERELY low when doc did labs and ct. So she called me in potassium powder that I have had to take once a day since which is nasty..... Not sure if the low potassium plays a part in any of this...

You need to have further investigations including a scope to check for IBD. In my experience inflammation does not go away without treatment. Low potassium is a sign of dehydration. You need to drink electrolyte replacement. Do not leave this.
