Well hello again everyone, its been a minute or two. How is everyone? Me I have been having a lot of pain for the last several weeks. A section of my intestines are acting as a lead pipe again, the last time that happened they removed a foot.
This time theyprescribed me 6mp,AKA, 6 mercaptopurine again as well as entocort but my insurance will not coverit ,it is $800.00 a month so shit outa luck for me with getting to try entocort. Is there anything else that will help that my insurance might cover?

What to do to relieve the pain???????

Hi Gary,
Sorry your not doing so good. Here are some pharmaceutical links. You'll have to paste them to your browser. I copied them from CCFA. They had an article back in July about financial assistance issues. I needed Darvocet or something stronger to help with the pain when I was really ill. Will your doctor prescribe narcotics for you? I hope you get some relief soon.

Sorry I had forgotten to mension that I am also taking, Asacol, oxycodone, and oxycontin 20mg, that usually helps with the pain but it aint even touching it this time. I will also check into some of those links as well. Thank you very much. Anything else comes to mind on relief other than another surgery(LOL) I am all ears from anyone. Again thank you for replying to my post hope to hear from you again.

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary

Gary maybe they'd pay for Prednisone (I know suck) .. but it's a steroid like Entocort just not as targeted a therapy and even if insurance doesn't cover it it's super super cheap.

p.s. You live in my favorite town in the country =)

My insurance does cover prednisone. I actually just got off a 2 week course about a couple weeks ago, that was prescribed by my surgoen before I seen my GI. Then at my GI visit is when he prescribed 50mg once daily of 6mp mercaptopurine (again)and Entocort on the 5th of October.

The meds I am currently on are as follows: Asacol 400mg tab, taking 2 three times daily, Omeprazole 20mg DR cap apotex, taking 1 daily, Mercaptopurine 50mg tab, taking 1 times daily, oxycontin 20mg tab 1 three times daily, oxcodone 5/325 along with oxycontin as breakthru pain as needed. Waiting to see what I can do about getting the entocort.

Also, it does not seem like any of the meds are working for me anymore and I get SO discouraged about it I just want to quit my meds, any ideas??? I feel if it aint working why take them all? I mean if you take the meds and still have complications then whats the purpouse of them? I battle with this one a lot, should I take them or should I stop.

P.S. This is a peacful town and it is great place to live. Visited here in 2001 and moved here that same year. This place is nice if you like the outdoors as I do.
P.S.S. Forgot to mension I just got over a pary anul disease abcess 1 week ago with a course flagyl. OUCH!! LOL

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary
