Interesting Swelling...

I am still undiagnosed (see specialist next week) and I found something interesting last night.

I am obviously bloated in my abdominal area but as I lay on my back last night I have definite swelling on my right side. The left side of my lower abdominal area seemed fine but as I moved my hand over to my right side (just left of my hip bone) I had a buldge/swollen area. I had my husband feel just to make sure I wasn't crazy and he agreed. When I put a bit of pressure on the area I felt immediate pain on that spot but I also felt it on my right side just below my ribs.

Just curious if anyone else experiences this??

Thanks

Yes I've had it. Last year when I was blocked my LRQ was very swollen and you could feel and see the bulge! When the doc palpated that area he had to scrape me off the ceiling!
My Crohn's is in the terminal ileum, the LRQ, is this where the majority of your symptoms are?
Keep your eye on it, if you start vomiting, head off to ER

My daughter had that same type of lump before her surgery. Her's (we believe) was caused from an abscess that was attached to her abdominal wall.
Like Joan said, be sure to keep a close eye on it. If you start to run a high fever or the pain becomes to intense, please head to the ER immediately! :)
Also, you should give your GI a call asap and fill him in on your finding.

best of luck!

Thanks for the info!

I don't have a GI yet. I have an appt on Wednesday. The pain in my LRQ is still the same and I still have the buldge. Oddly, I have also had pain in my groin that goes into my leg. I haven't been able to figure out what I did to my leg and there are times when I get a sharp pain in the groin area and my leg gives out.

I don't have a fever and other than twinges of pain & constant discomfort, I seem to be okay (and I say that lightly). I'll be mentioning it on Wedneday!

Yes, my constant discomfort/pain is in my LRQ. The pain sometimes spreads to my back - right side.

Matt had pain, groin/hip and leg, that sounds similar to what you are describing and it was due to an abscess on his psoas muscle. Be sure and mention it to the doc when you see them Wednesday.

Good luck with your appointment hun and I hope you get solid answers!

Yes my pain was in right lower back, hips and groin too. These are referred pains from the inflammation site.
It could be an obstruction, but don't ignore it if it intensifies or if you have projectile vomiting.
Good luck with your appt, hope you get some answers and a dx.

Thank you!!

I guess not knowing what is really going on has a tendancy to make you question everything. No vomitting so far but I am nauseated. I am keeping an eye on things and documenting for my appt!
