Well my iron levels have been pretty low for about a year and until today which came back as 40 :) (but for some reason my B12 has dropped .. typical hey).

Talking to a guy which having my infusion I told him the level ... well his level kicked my ass. His was 1000! A lass across the room said hers used to be 6000!!. Wow I didnt know it was possible to get that high.

Something to do with a genetic disease i think, so they have to get a pint of blood drained off every 2 weeks. Of course being the NHS its all disposed of. Pity they couldnt give it to anaemics.

Hey rygon,

You have had an ileal resection yeah? You may need to start supplementing your B12. Stores of B12 can last quite some time so that might explain why it has been normal until now.

I would hazard a guess and say those guys have Haemochromatosis.

thats the one ;) No i havent had any surgeries as of yet. I think it may be due to my CC being at the bottom right of my large intestines i may struggle (i say CC my doc changes his mind everytime i see him, its either that or UC). Although its always been good even when ive been ill (just the ferritin ive had problems with).

Getting it tested again in 2 wks then maybe b12 injections

Mine's 3.8 at the moment, struggling to keep my eyes open every second of every day, just waiting desperately for my cosmofor infusion (whilst going crazy with fatigue!) ahhhh!

I tried the Ferrous Sulfate (iron) pills and they made me nautious.

The B-12 I get from supplements..

I get my Iron from Cream of wheat, Liver, and Veggies..

sometimes with suppliments, I find that I get more from the food than the supplements, provided of course my body is absorbing the nutrients..

an example is with potassium, 1 serving of motts apple juice gives you 290mg of potassium.

applesauce with a sliced up banana is a potassium treat :) I add in blueberries too since they are good for the heart.
