I was wondering if anyone is completely pain free? it seems that everything I eat causes pain even the good stuff. will I ever be pain free?

I don't have pain all the time. Some days are pretty good, but even on the good days I have some level of discomfort (bloating, pressure, gurgling). I actually take time to pause and embrace times when I feel pretty good, so thankful for those times. I take a lot of Meds to keep me at this point, but am also VERY careful with what I eat.
Hoping for the best for you, and us all!

Tbh I am pain free, the most I feel isn't pain but bloating, constant toilet trips and some uncomfortable feelings but nothing to bad.

It sounds like you have a stricture, but that's just my guess based on past experience. If you're in pain all the time, you need to talk to your doctor.

I'm not pain free either, and I know I have strictures in my transverse colon and scarring in my sigmoid colon. I'm prescribed oxycodone HCL 10mg for the pain. Also have a medical marijuana card, I used to use MJ more than oxy, but now with my job they do drug tests once a month and don't consider my card to be a "prescription".

I'm gonna be finding out in the next couple weeks if I'm going to need to go into surgery or not. I've never had a CD related surgery and I'm so insanely terrified :'(

Exactly what I dreaded after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease that there is no solution we have to live with the symptoms. My diet has been so good the last month but still experience pain.

Hi there,
I am pain free after several years of persistent pain, even after eating a slice of toast!!! After several meds which I reacted badly to, or did not work, I am now on 8 weekly Infliximab infusions. It has reduced the inflammatory levels and so I am feeling much better. I tire easily but that is more bareable than constant Dia and pain!!! We are all individuals though and may respond differently from someone else.
I hope you get some relief soon and feel better. Best wishes.

for me some days are bad and some are good. Today I ate an egg sandwich before work and about threw it all back up. Then my stomach hurt so bad, I called off today. Why and where does this come from? I wish I new.:(

I'm pretty pain free, as long as I am super careful with what I eat. If I do something dumb, like eat a few nuts, then I'm in pain for the next few days.

I was pain free while in remission. Now that I'm in a flare, if I don't strictly follow the Low Residue Diet (its what works for me) then depending on what I eat (if it moves through me faster then it'll cause more pain) I'll have minor discomfort to really sharp pain. I do have a stricture caused by scar tissue from a past resection and from current inflammation so I know what's causing the pain.

If you're still in a lot of pain and aren't getting proper treatment then see your GI and try to get the issue under control and if you find that its nothing but scar tissue then talk to your GI about balloon dilation, a strictureplasty or a resection. There's no reason to be in pain all the time with no answers and no signs of relief.

Moose185 when you say "everything I eat causes pain even the good stuff." What is "the good stuff?"

Pain free and in remission for the last one and a half years. I get into trouble if I eat wrong, but not necessarily. Must have been many months since I had diarrhea.

Well from hearing others it seems the only way to stay pain free is to cut out a lot of foods. I've followed strict diets myself where I felt a little better on them but they were really hard work and I couldn't have done them long term. I eat stuff like green beans, courgettes, peppers. Fruit juices such as beetroot, carrot, apple, cucumber,. I eat sunflower seeds. Drink herbal teas. Stay away from all sugar, wheat and dairy and still get pain. It's crazy. I don't know what the solution is. All the restrictions make me more depressed I'm only young.

My son has been mostly pain free since May, but he is delicate, not a normal teenage boy.
He can't eat whatever he feels like eating, can't eat too much etc.

I am pain free at all times unless something is drastically wrong.

It seems like a blessing, and is on one hand, but not on the other.

No pain means I can have a problem developing and not be aware of it until it is serious.
It makes me question my diagnosis as the lack of pain or discomfort seems unusual for Crohn's.

Very seldom, and then it is usually quite mild, that is until I eat the wrong food or anything gaseous which will set it off for a day or two.

I have just finished taking prednisone and while it did help at the high dose my symptoms are back in full force since going off it. My question is , would you say its worth going on further medication like immunosuppressants or is it mainly Down to diet? I don't know what to do

Hi there,
Avoiding foods that aggravate your illness, eating small amounts all help but they do not stop Crohns. You need to talk to your Consultant about the next step in treatment. Steroids are only a temporary fix! As I said before, Meds did not work for me, so I am now doing well on Remicade infusions. I hope you get some meds soon that help you feel a lot better. Best wishes.
