Is food sensitivity in remission still normal?

Hello,

Currently around 7-weeks post-op and prior to the ostomy reversal I was told my bloodwork, stool work, and colonoscopy came out entirely clean. So, they reversed me and things have been well.

I am pretty much eating like normal. Fruits, vegetables, etc. but I noticed that certain foods still give me some trouble.

For example, I'll make a pasta dish with cherry tomatoes and spinach and I notice the tomato seeds and spinach in my stool pretty much undigested. Does it make me a bit gassy too? Maybe.

So, I want to ask those in remission...are there certain foods that you still avoid? I pretty much ALWAYS avoid corn and strawberries because those two things have caused some terrible flares and I don't think its worth eating them for months of hell.

However, I was under the impression that once you're in remission, you can pretty much eat whatever? Is that not the case for those in remission?

I'd like add that I probably have had around 50 cm of my small bowel resected so there is a chance some food may come out undigested. However, my doctors have told me I have plenty of small bowel left.

Seeds are something I have to avoid at all costs whether I am in remission or in a flare. Tomatoes, strawberries, pop corn, seeded buns etc. are forbidden foods for me. I associate these with pain and misery. I also have to limit fiber, and anything that can overload my bowels. I find eating 4 smaller meals a day is easier on my system.
I have to peel my fruit, and cook vegetables well until soft. I eat meats but limit red meats. Ground beef is something I can tolerate.

If you happen to eat something with seeds, do you suffer for a day and then go back to normal or is it something that messes you up for a couple days?

I usually know about it within a day. The cramping pains start during the night and can continue for days afterwards. I'm guessing the seeds get caught in the GI tract and aggravate inflammation to the point I get constipated. It can get so bad that I have contemplated on going in to the ER at the hospital. I do have strictures, and seeds get caught in them. Its with relief once they pass, I avoid them at all costs, everything from raspberry seeds poppy seeds all the way to corn, no go.
