Is this normal? So much pain! I don't know what's going on.

Sorry for all the questions lately. My GI doesn't really give me a lot of info so I'm never quite sure what's going on in my guts.

TMI warning:

I just spent 45 minutes on the throne with the worst cramping pain I've ever had in my life. like the sobbing hysterically kind of pain. I had six(!) waves of "production" ranging from fully formed (my normal) to totally water with the pain peaking right before each. I don't typically get D, either - I typically just have RLQ pain and constipation, but this time my LLQ's been hurting too. Even now I'm still in a pretty significant amount of pain (probably a 6/10).

What's going on? did I have an obstruction that the pred finally de-swelled? is this some sort of warning sign that things are not getting better? I don't know what to do. :( I don't know what I can take to help or what will make this unrelenting crampy pain get better.

Sorry you are going through this...it sounds similar to the pain I felt when I had a fistula that was ready to open/pop.....

If this is new and different, I'd be giving my doc a call asap also.....

My GI's out of town, and it's after hours, so if I call now it's gonna be whatever lackey pulled the short straw and is on call. :-/

Hard to say, my main Crohn's symptom is cramping, sometimes to the point of near fainting and nauseous. Usually in the mornings and around bowel movements.

Heating pads on the abdomen help if you don't have pain medication. Tylenol should help some. I would be sure to call the Dr. tomorrow, especially if it is not a regular thing for you like it is me.

I absolutely hate how this disease keeps changing on me. I feel like I'm in a constant state of "what's going on now?" consistency would be *amazing*.

It is frustrating. You just have to roll with the punches. In the 15 years since my diagnosis the disease has shown itself in different ways and never ceases to surprise me.

I am not sure if consistency and crohns belong in the same sentence, ever.

Edit* maybe crohns is consistently crappy? :ylol:

Well, that's oddly reassuring, if that makes any sense. I guess the hard part for me is knowing when to worry if it's always something new, ya know?

I would generally say if you have excrutiating pain like that, a visit to the ER might be in order.

Good luck! I hope it isn't anything serious, but please get it checked out!!

If you have insurance, you might as well use it. Just don't ever wait on treatment, always easier to treat Crohns stuff when they catch it early.
