So I have had this awfull thing for three years and was just on the verge of diagnosis.I was taken in to the clinic for a colonoscopy last month and it was pretty uncomfortable at the end when it felt like the GI pushed in very hard several times. I know he took several biopsies and at the end of the test he spent quite a while doing something in there which since Ive had a few of the se tests I was quite surprised.
The next week after i had terrible discomfort and was getting ready to go back until monday last i got up and the pain has gone. I mean the pain Ive had for three years has gone. Lets say if it was at 90% well now it is at 15%.
I cant understand what has happened but as you can guess i am delighted and lost for words.
Im still taking the Asacol and Amytriptyline as |I dont thinking just stopping would be good for me but i will take advice first.
I have recieved a letter to go back to see the GI in four weeks and I am just uphoric at the moment.
Am I in remission ?
Has anybody had a similar experience ?
Is this temporary ?
What could the GI have done to make this happen ?

I feel really pretty good and Im just amazed by the whole thing, Ive been holding off telling anyone as i have been expecting a return of crappiness.
All the GI said was that the lower colon looked quite clear, he is arranging to look at the upper bowel and stomach.

So if anybody has had this happen or can explain this please do let me know.

Cool. I don't understand what you're saying though, it just went away and you don't know why?

Yes why has it stopped. Ok so there is some mild pain but it s in the backround not full on pain all day that i was used to .
I ve been trying to figure it out was somethin maybe a build up or a scist or something like that sorted out.
Ok its just so different , im not knocking it but I m curious if anyone has experienced this.

Crohns is weird, previous flares would come and go over months and months for me, this last flare I had a similar experience where over a couple of days it just stopped, and I have been symptom free since...who knows I stopped questioning this disease a long time ago, if you have less pain go outside and enjoy yourself before the next one hits.

Believe it or not some people, only a few have gone into remission at least for UC from the
prep. The prep will wash out excessive bacteria and their toxins, also kill many due to
osmotic killing. There is little info on this on the internet but it used to be there about 10 or so years ago. You can search colonic lavage/ IBD,or colitis,or inflammatory bowel.
Also some people seem to indicate that there meds work better after a prep.
But again any info on this is quite difficult to locate.

You could ask for a copy of the report? Could be perhaps, there was some sort of kink in your bowel that got straightened out of maybe he did a balloon dilation at the end for a stricture? It's great you feel better, but I'd be curious as to why too :)

Thank s Helen and some interesting comments. I agree that it is possible to force remission by various means . I believe that the GI carried out another procedure or fixed somethin at the end of my colonoscopy. I am convinced as ive had three of these already and i know the storey well. The only thing i can hope is that this will last as i feel great . I do believe that the medication is working better so i will remain on it until my doc tells me otherwise.
This is a big change for my family who have had to listen to me and adjust there lives to suit mine. So Im gonna make an effort to do something for all of them and try to get involved more in there lives.
