Hey There,

I don't think this is an allergy of any kind because I haven't changed anything in my lifestyle except for the toothpaste that I use. I've tried taking allergy medications but they do not help.

About 2 months ago, I noticed I started waking up in the mornings with extra oil on my face and it being extremely itchy, but that's it.

Over the past 2 weeks, my face started breaking out in small red hives and my chest. They aren't pimples because they have no head. My face is constantly oily and itchy. The itchiness has become more severe. I am in the sun a lot more than normal so maybe that is the reason for the change, I do not know. I just went through a flair that ended a week ago or more.

Is this related? Is it an autoimmune thing? I don't have a doctor so I don't really know how serious this is. It's insanely itchy now all day long, mostly in the morning and evening. It subsides late night, but I wake up with intense itchiness again.

It can't be anything in my bed because my boyfriend would be suffering with it too. The only thing I can find to provide a 20 minute relief is Calmine lotion, but the underlying itch is still there.

Has anyone else experienced this with an IBD?

I've been getting itching, rash and hives (like skin writing at times) mainly around mid area inc top of legs up to ribs, on off for a while over the past few years and mentioned it to my consultant as I bruise with it (may be a side effect of the scratching). He didn't think it was connected but there are two factors I am going to raise when I see him next month...
1. This appears to be a documented side effect of Magazine (I take 2mg/day Pentasa PR granules) and have had swolled face a lips previously also a side effect.
2. The swelling and raised area that comes with the rash appears to be an inflammatory response and psoriosis, RA and skin conditions run in my mothers family (my cousin on her side also has Crohn's so the is a def link).

Are you on Pentasa (Mesalazine) as it could be allergy to it?

No, not on anything. 4,000 IU of Vitamin D3 per day seems to be the only things somewhat helping. It's still going on.
