After much fear and trepidation I just had my 4 shots of Humira. I finally broke down and did it. I got to say it was almost too easy. Thanks to all the tips I got from users here It went without problems. I"ll report back if anything develops for for now. So far good. Now crossing my fingers so I can get off 60 mg of prednisone I'm on. I have moderate CD and steroids weren't doing it anymore.

Again thank you for all your help.

Good Luck!! Hope it works well for you and here's to getting off the prednisone, that is a big dose.

I thought being on 40mg for 6 months was to much...they selayed my tapering cause of MTX complication and wanting another humira injection. How long on steroids? Did your loading dose of humira utilize the pen or syringe?

I was on 60mg of prednisone for over a year. Last month I had to go up to 60mg due to intestinal bleeding. So the doc said no more prednisone.

I used the pen. It hurt less that the B12 shots I get weekly. Left it out of the fridge 30 mins prior to using it. Did the four shots and was fine. After about 3 hrs I got really tired. Took a short nap and has felt just fine up to now.

Thanks for sharing about your loading dose. I'm starting Humira this week too (Remicade failed after a year). Good luck! Please keep us updated on your progress. I'm hoping it works well for you.

Well I just had my second dose of Humira last week. So far so good. Feeling so much better. Prednisone dose is down to 40mg from 60mg. No more bleeding bless diarrhea and pain and eating a lot better. The only complaint is I'm getting this tenderness in my rib cage right under pectoral muscle on the left side. Went to the doctor today and he took a couple of X-rays and so nothing out of place. He thinks it could be related to the tapering of the prednisone.

Just thought I would give an update. So far Humira is working great.

Hi, jptpa,

Glad the start of Humira is going well for you. I'm just behind your schedule, giving myself the 4-pen starter dose today. I'm nervous about all the listed side-effects, but GI doc thought Humira was indicated, given I had no improvement after 6 months of methotrexate injections.

Good luck!

Hi my daugter had her first four injections last week and says it seems to be working she had her first bag of sweets without a belly ache and a cake. She said she was waiting for the bellyache all night and it never came. I hope it works, I wanted to know how long the average time it works for as in years. She had a flare up which caused a blocked bowel and had to be in hospital for a week.
