I don't really know where else to go with this, I was diagnosed with UC in Feb of this year, I've had 2 rounds of C.Diff - the most recent being about 14 days ago, which landed me in the hospital for 7 days on Oral Vanco, however when I was released I wasn't sent home with any more antibiotic or anything because I tested negative for C.Diff.

Fast forward to this weekend, was in the ER on Saturday for extreme pain in my stomach and a low grade fever (99.9) - they did a CT Scan on me and told me that since April my swelling in my intestines has gone down a lot (YAY!) and sent me on my way, after managing my pain.

Yesterday marked day 5 of constipation so I took some Mirilax as my GI had instructed me too, and of course I had a few BMs. They're firm and formed which is a relief, but they REEK like the C.Diff poo did. And I just feel all around crummy like I did the 2nd time I was diagnosed with C.Diff. I'm talking massive amounts of pain in my lower abdomen (on a scale of 1-10 it's a 100), slightly dizzy, headache, sick to my stomach all that good stuff.

My gut tells me to go back to the ER, but my head says wait until tomorrow morning and call my doctors office.

So I guess what I'm asking is if you were in my shoes what would you do?

You should probably head back to the ER. Im sure you don't want to but as you know c diff isn't anything to ignore and it doesn't go away on it's own. Im a big believer in listening to your intuition and if that's telling you the c diff could be back then maybe you should err on the safe side and go find out. My daughter had c diff and quickly got worse. When we got it treated we also started her on 2 probiotics that help specifically with it. One is called florastor and the other is sustenex. Both are available otc. Get well soon.

 I've been in the same shoes last December-please go to the ER! You should be on oral Vanco at least 14 days, positive test or not, according to my GI. C.diff is notoriously hard to diagnose, even with the tests we all know and love.

Also, on the supplement front, try adding Floristor pills-it's a probiotic that clings to the c.diff bacteria and carries it out of your system. It has saved me, as I have a recurring bout of c.diff for about three months. Just remember not to take it near your antibiotics-take either an hour before meds or two hours after.

Feel better, sending hugs!

Thank you both! :) I did go back to the ER last night, and according to my bloodwork I'm good. My whiteblood count was higher than it was the last time I was in the ER, now I'm just waiting for the stool culture to come back.

The nurses at the hospital were horrible, but it was almost worth it to hear my doctor ream them out for not giving me anything for the pain, and then trying to give me Morphine which I'm allergic too.

Should find out tomorrow what the culture says, but I'm feeling better so I'm hoping that it isn't the dread C.Diff - although now there is some bleeding when I go to the bathroom and I'm unsure if it's from a hemroid or not.

I'm monitoring this situation carefully because I do not want to go back to the ER, seriously the way I was treated the other night was horrible and I would like to avoid that happening again.

Also I fully believe that there should be an easier way to tell what kind of blood it is, if its from a hemroid or from your insides. Because having to guess is a pain in the ... well butt.

I'm glad you went back to the ER and I hope you're out of the woods with the C. Diff. Definitely add the Florastor to your daily routine of meds. C. Diff. is such a nasty bug with so much pain involved. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with it. Good luck.

Well this may be TMI, but if the blood is bright red when you wipe, or on your undies, it's from a hemorrhoid. If you have bright red in the toliet, and on the paper, it's from higher up in the rectum. If the blood is dark, it's from even higher in the bowel.

Hope this helps with the monitoring-feel better! :)

Hi, I notice you're a waiting for results on c. diff.. My little girl is waiting for the same test and we were just told that when you have c. diff you might always test positive for it. So they said is you have normal stool or goes back to normal stool don't worry about it.
She had to have two treatments to get rid of it.
