So just had my lastest appointment with hospital today and explained since the last time I've been horrible time and I have to hand in stoole samples to check for infection then once there back maybe some steroids and an MRI (haven't had any of these before) also told to up my lomotil to double dosage (3to6) a day 2.5mg on top of my 125 mg mebeverine 3 times a day and my 2 pentasa 2g sachets hopefully this bad time can kick start the process to better times ahead as I'm getting a lot of pressure in my job as I've been off a few days not well with bad flare ups and can't afford to be out of work :( ... Anyone had steroids and how did you find them for your condition ?

Thanks for the update hun, I am sorry to hear you are feeling so bad right now :( If you have inflammation going on inside then the steroids usually do a great job at settling this down and within a few days most feel a lot better. For me it only takes a couple of days to feel really good tummy wise with nearly normal BM's, there is a fair list of side effects but everyone is different on whether they get these and to what degree, we do have a sub forum that is worth having a look at for further info: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=80. One thing I would say is if you do get put on these make sure you are given a calcium supplement to protect your bones.

Will be keeping fingers crossed that you can be feeling better soon hun, please keep us updated on how you get on.

Hi, Sean. :)

Like Angrybird said, steroids usually reduce your inflammation pretty quickly - so you might get back on track very soon. Most people seem to have good luck with that, but there are some side effects to keep in mind. Agreeing with Angrybird once again ( :D ), a calcium supplement is a good idea.

Let us know how everything goes!

Hi Sean, I am sorry your getting pressure from your job but right now your health is the most important. Once you get things under control you can be more focused at work and I know this can be a hard thing because of money. lol....... Yes, steroids have really worked well for me and I have not had to many side effects. I hope you feel better soon. :)

Steriods worked well for my son as well.
Sorry to hear you need them.
Depending on the dose you may get more side effects .
Sometimes very little side effects - DS had them twice for Ibd - once very little issues second time more issues it just depends .
The important thing is to get the inflammation under control.

Thanks for the responses guys and the kind messages hopefully this will do the trick for me and get back to "normal" soon also hope that all you kind people are feeling great to

Sean
