Having a lot of accidents at the moment, but apart from getting the right treatment for my illness, does anyone have any advice about laundry? What works for getting rid of stains (bright orange/brown - horrid)? I am going to end up throwing clothes out at this rate (and don't mention carpet :stinks:!). Just finding solutions for this sort of thing would be a help, even if it doesn't help my illness. I know it probably means having to wear more protection - but that is so depressing, uncomfortable and bulky nappies aren't very fashionable I'm afraid.

I'm having accidents all the time. Yesterday was terrible and I soiled myself 7 times and that's on top of regular running to the bathroom. I don't know about a particular bleach because I use natural products. I do wear diapers though and recommend it because you get less on your clothes.

I too agree with getting an adult type of diaper/pants...most of hte stains will NOT come out - been there, thrown a bunch of clothes out! Underwear itself isn't a big deal as no one else sees it...but a stain on pants is soooo difficult if not impossible to get out.....the investment in some underclothes is worth not having to throw out pants etc....

Also, with improvements in sanitary underwear these days, many types are hard to even tell if you are wearing them!

I need to talk to the specialist continence team about what adult nappies are available in the uk, I guess that will be the only solution. Thanks for the suggestions.

Adult diapers might be your best shot at tackling this problem unfortunately :/

Other than that you may have a fighting chance at SOME of the stains if you hand scrub them out immediately after the accident.

Wish there were other options for you :( I don't know how well any cleaning products would effectively remove these types of stains especially if they sit for a while before being cleaned.

You're entitled to free continence pads on the NHS. They deliver me a supply of Molimed once every few months or so. You can refer yourself to your local continence service or ask your GP to if you're not already seeing them and they assess what size, etc. you need. Most aren't actually like nappies, they're more like super-large sanitary towels. Unless I were to wear really tight clothes (which I don't) they're not visible when I'm dressed, and even if they are a bit I'd choose the possibility of someone thinking I'm wearing a large sanitary towel over having accidents any day! Also I found they work better if I wear underwear that is a little tighter than I normally wear. At one point they were leaking a bit at night and it was because I'd lost weight which meant my underwear was a bit big and wasn't holding it in place so well.

◾1 part dawn dish soap
◾2 parts hydrogen peroxide
◾1 part baking soda

depending on the stain I've used various formulations of the same ingredients sometimes letting it sit to soak or repeating. Use a scrub brush if need be to work in the paste.
