hi everyone,

I'm trying to get as much information as possible about Crohn's. Diet has been a main focus but i'd like to now start looking into r&d and innovation in this area.

Who are the main protagonists driving innovation in this field? Is there somewhere i can go to become more well read on the area. I really want to get an understanding of what types of things are being tested or considered and what sort of advances are being made.

Most of us are struggling along with this disease so i'd really like to know who are leading the way with research and the search for a cure/more effective treatments.

My doc is Dr. Stephen B. Hanauer, Gastroenterology and Pharmacology. He had been at the University of Chicago, IL until recently. He is now at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL.

He's been on the "bleeding edge" of Crohn's for decades now. When I can't get into see him, it's because he's in Dubai, treating a Saudi prince. (That's really happened...twice.)

I'd suggest looking at the studies these two University's are conducting for something that may feel right to you.

As to your work with your diet--have you given up food entirely yet? Complete bowel rest put me back in remission a couple of times. Google "total paternal nutrition." Not easy, but I avoided some of them other nasty therapies.

All my best. Dan

Here are some search terms you can look up
- Qu Biologics SSI vaccine
- Prof. Hermon-Taylor MAP vaccine
- Stem cell therapy, I think out of Northwestern
- Diet studies Washingto Children's, MA General, Rush University
- Dr. Borody Australia
- Dr. Nasser CFU

Also check out CCFA and its Canadian and British counterparts on research they are funding.

You can also search NIH Crohn's and UC research funding.
