What causes HARD STOOL with undigested food still in it???

This is new for us. She's NEVER had hard stool.

Grace has been having shredded chicken and apples. I can still make them out in the stool.:stinks:

I've increased water and Miralax.

CRAZY!

I wanted to ask this question on crohnsinct birthday. It's not much of a gift but I send it with all my love.

:rof:

LMAO! Well...not at poor Grace but at my gift!

Yeah, you know O had that last year when transitioning to food. I called the GI and they were unimpressed. I think that was the call that got O's file moved to the PITA Parents drawer;)

Seriously, it didn't mean much here. Keep an eye on it. If it keeps up, I think it means she isn't digesting her food and perhaps a call would in order.

^^^ yeah that

Plus I thought she was only on chicken and rice
I thought she had failed apples as part of egid .
DS does not do well with uncooked apples .

Grace started trailing apples again after a few months of the first fail.
Her nutritionist told me which kinds to use that are the lowest in fructose.
We did apples again because we wanted one fruit that she would look forward to eating.
Peaches and cherries are just to high in fructose, so apples it is again.
Theirs no visual sign of problems but her scopes might show something different.

Thanks Catherine. Grace has the sensitivity to fructose. Meaning we're trying to find out what level or threshold we can get her too.

Also, *IF* she's having issues with her blood sugar, would that have an affect of her fructose sensitivity????

This may sound like a silly question but how do you know she is sensitive to fructose?

Does she like really sweet food or drinks?

Fructose malabsorption is where the body has a low threshold for fructose.

There is a second rarer fructose disorder which maybe worth looking at if tolerance for fructose is very low.

Hereditary fructose intolerance is a condition where the body is unable to digest fructose. Symptoms usually began to appear when moving from breast milk to solids. The treatment is a diet with no fructose.

Allergist dx it.
She did a fructose challenge. With in the hr she had slight rash, runny nose, coughing and the next day I notice she has the runs.

However the Allergist did say we can revisit the fructose allergy again, once her colitis is under control. Maybe she can have it then.

Remember the colitis is confusing everything that has to do with EGID and visa versa

Grace does NOT have the rarer fructose disorder. Thank GOD.

Yes she has a HUGE sugar craving. Always has.

Apples pass through EJ undigested. He doesn't eat apples...period. I'm no dr or prof, but it just seems dangerous to me.

So if her colitis is not under control - which judging by your posts its not
AND she has fructose intolerance ( alkergy would mean she couldn't eat it at all)
Why are you taxing her system with apples which are hard for crohn's kids and hard for fructose intolerant kids ???

We were told by the allergist and Gi DS has to be at baseline for both diseases before they will let us challenge a food he is allergic too .
We have canceled five food challenges so far .

I cleared it with her GI and 2 Nutritionist about the apples MLP.
I'm NOT trying to tax her little body.

Her chicken also shows up in her stool and it's ground fine.

I think it would make sense to stop the chicken, rice and apples to just see if she clears the Eos on straight formula. If that helps the colitis then that's good and hopefully the LDN will take over. If not time to move on to a different med I guess.
