HI Everyone.

Just curious to know if any of you have tried levsin or any other antispastic drug to help with some of the cramping and did it help.
I was thinking of asking for Levsin, I have tried Modulon it sorta helped a bit but I get so tired from it i have a hard time functioning properly.

Thank you.

I've tried several antispasmodics - Bentyl (Dicyclomine) worked okay for cramping but didn't alleviate any of my other symptoms. I keep it on hand as it actually works fairly well for menstrual cramps.

I have tried Hyoscyamine as well, which I believe is the generic of Levsin. Unfortunately, I had a bad reaction to it and suffered horrible nausea. Even after I stopped taking it, it was about a full 2 weeks before the nausea finally went away. My understanding is that what I experienced was a fairly rare side effect, most people just experience dry mouth from Hyoscyamine and that's it. But personally speaking, I much prefer Dicyclomine, although neither did all that much for me.

I just a scrip for Levsin, have yet to try it. I have used Bentyl before and disliked it. It tasted like a swallowed a battery. It did help with the spasms. I was told Levsin doesn't taste as bad as Bentyl.

I love the hyoscamine (or levsin)!! I had really back stomach cramps and lots of upper stomach gas and the hyoscamine takes care of it immediately. I'm pregnant now so I haven't been taking it much, but before I got pregnant I took it as a preventative before meals if I felt like I might get puffy later and it kept me from having a lot of painful laying in bed holding my stomach nights!

I also didn't have any side effects from it that I could tell. It made me a teeny bit sleepy, but that was manageable. The Phenergran knocked me out bad, so I was happy to find something I could use at work.

I have a sublingual form of hyoscamine and also Librax that I take on an as-needed basis. I think they both work alright. I don't get side effects from either, but then I don't take them that often.

I am in the UK but use a tablet called Buscopan. I think its hyoscine butylbromide. It works a treat and I would not be without it!

Thank you all for your replies.

I have only tried Modulon and Buscopan so far. Modulon never use to put me to sleep but now it does terribly, as for Buscopan I always felt very foggy. On my next appt with my family doctor I am curious to see if he will let me try levsin or librax, I Know they are mostly for IBS, But so far I have not been diagnosed so you never know. I guess its worth a try.

Has anyone tried librax???
