I was wondering if anyone else on Remicade has experienced lipomas? Lipomas are benign fatty tumors.

I had one removed and biopsied a year or so ago. Recently, I stumbled upon a Blog that reported Lipomatosis may be a side effect of Remicade. I now have several of these tumors in my thighs. Lipomas can also be herreditary, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced or even heard of this possible side effect?

Sorry, not familiar with these. Doesn't sound like fun though!

Hopefully someone will come along with an answer for you.

Mine are about the size of a large jaw breaker candy. You can't see them from the surface, because they are somewhat deep. They are tender to the touch.

I have several small ones that were present 15 years before I started Remicade. I didn't get any new ones and the existing ones didn't get bigger either.

I'm curious about what you found out, though.

Me too. And I'm sorry that you have this garbage going on with you. Keep us informed.

I'm absolutely covered in lipomas. My mom was kind enough to pass them on to me though I am worse than her. I've found a slight anecdotal correlation between microscopic colitis and lipomas but that's about it. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of genetic overlap.

The worst part is I have so many that I can't have them all excised or biopsied. So if I do one day get some sort of cancer I'll just think it's a lipoma until it's too late. Good times.

I got my first one when I was 13 and that opened the flood gates.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with these :(

Oh wow David! You too, eh? I had no idea.

Big hugs for both of you!!

I'm a transcriptionist and did a report on a lady that had 18 lipomas removed at one time. I was surprised the surgeon agreed to do it. I just figured once there were over 10, the docs wouldn't want to mess with it.

I've got about 8 on my legs that showed up when I was in my 20s, but they're very small.

I'm so sorry to hear about both of you having so many and so large. Not fun at all!

I just did a search for Remicade/Infliximab and lipomas and couldn't find much. Interestingly, some lipomas are caused by Dercum's disease and there were reports out there that Remicade was helping reduce lipomas associated with it.

Sorry I'm not of more help.
