looks like i need surgery

saw my doc today. i haven't been keeping food down or being able to have a solid stool in awhile. the pain is unbearable. he told me that there is a part of my lower intestine right near the bowel that is nearly blocked off and is afraid of a fistula or something along those lines forming to try and surpass the blocked part so he says it needs to be removed- it is beyond repair. i have dropped from 125 to 115 in like 2 weeks. keep in mind my normal weight before crohn's was well above 135. i'm on a liquidy diet right now and am being put on humira along with oral methotrexate to try and get some of my inflammation in control before the surgery (he wants it to happen in about 8 weeks). i'm so stressed because i just started school and all this is happening now and i have never had such bad joint, restless leg & arm, stomach pain in my life. I hope this surgery ends up helping.

I too am just about in the same boat as you. My normal weight is about 135-140lbs i am now almost 125lbs. I Try to eat small portions. That should make it a little easier. Good luck to you.

I have had a resection and have felt good since so wishing you all the best and try not to be too frightened many people have great success with surgery.

Good luck Tish-hope it goes well for you, sounds like you are @ the stage where surgery is the best option.
Regards
Grant

Good Luck hopefully this will help. I'm going through the same thing as well waiting on my Dr. to call me back with an appointment. I've been having diarrhea and losing weight and last time I was hospitalized the Dr. said things didn't look good. And my stomach is bloated like I'm 5 months pregnant. I weight normally 145 and I'm dropping weight fast. So I hope this surgery will benefit you!

Good luck with the surgery tishbite, if you decide to go ahead with it. I also may need surgery, but right now, I'm trying not to think about it.

I had a colonoscopy a couple weeks ago, and unfortunately, the doctor could only get a little ways in before he found scarring in the colon, and couldn't get past it, even with a small scope. This seems new to me (within the past couple years), as it's been about that long since my last scope, and I think he was able to get all the way through on the last exam that I had.

Anyway, he wants a Barium enema test, which I'm doing in a couple weeks, and I see my doctor in January. If I hear from him before then regarding the results of the barium enema, I'll post in this forum to let all of you know.

Thanks everyone. It's about time I get surgery because I have had this narrowing for awhile. Just now is it getting so narrow that I am having trouble with it. When they did a scope a couple months ago they couldn't get past the area to see the rest of my intestine but assumed that it wasn't great either so i don't know. My doctor told me I definitely need that bit removed but need to lessen my inflammation. He told me I have two aspects to my crohn's when most just have one. I'm not exactly sure what he meant by that. I'm just worried about how i will heal and whether or not I will be able to gain weight/get my inflammation under control before the surgery. Everything is kind of up in the air right now :/
