The GI I had before my current one told me to stay away from marinara. What does it have in it that might cause me problems?

If it has tomato peels or possibly the acidic content could be an irritant. It may also have some herbs that can bother you.

It could be the acid. That is the only thing I can think of. Marinara tends to be high acid, it is cooked to reduce the water content which concentrates the acid, but it is never cooked long enough to deal with the acid. If it is cooked over low heat, for a minimum of four hours the acidity will greatly be reduced. But this almost never happens.

Huh...for some reason marinara and tomato soup are actually flare-friendly foods for me. I guess I'm a bit odd, eh?

I lived off of tomato soup before my surgery! Actually a grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds like the perfect flare friendly meal.
