So my daughter has been on mesalamine for about 3/wks now and I noticed this morning that the granuals were in her poop-which was really dark but runny/pasty. Does that make since at all!? It also looks like it is tinted with old blood.

Help!!! I don't want to call the doctor over nothing

Is it okay that they didn't absorb?

Here's what the pharmacy told me when my little one was on Pentasa because I had the same concern. They said that Pentasa and some others medicines would absorb, but left the "shell" behind, if that makes any sense. I think there was also a thread on this (where I asked a question) about Asacol (I think it's another form of mesalamine?), not dissolving. So it's normal. I remember seeing those white granules and wondering what the point was and then wondering if something was wrong with him if he wasn't absorbing it. If I find the thread, I'll post it here. Hope that helps :)
