So, I meant to ask this a long time ago because it's been this way for most of my Crohn's experience..

Does anyone have problems in the morning worse than the rest of the day?
It seems like as soon as I wake up, and roll out of bed (regardless of what/if I've eaten/drank or how much sleep I've gotten) I'm going STRAIGHT to the bathroom... Over, and over, and over... I have to give myself an extra hour or two each morning before anything if I'm going to be able to survive the day because I CANNOT just get up and go..
Not sure if this is a common happening or if it's just me. Anyone have any input or similar experiences?

Yes, I do too, got to get up early and give myself lots of time to do the deed before work!
Apparantly, our bowels go to sleep when we do and wake up when we do!

Yes I have the exact same problem, as soon as I wake up I gotta run to the loo and then another 2 or 3 times, I never eat breakfast !! I then take my tablets which stop me running most of the day then same again next day an so on.
This is a bit minging but I Gotta ask ....
My poo is always diarrhoea sometimes mushy like a cow pat and other times watery but it stinks really bad no matter what I've eaten, does any one else get really bad smelling poo?

I'm the opposite! Generally my symptoms get worse during the day, I always put it down to my small intestines being pretty empty in the morning, and during the day as I eat they get fuller.

I have very mild inflammation yet still use the bathroom as if it were a more moderate flare. I spoke to my GI about it and he prescribed Lomotil which is stronger than Imodium. Some on here say that it makes them constipated but I don't think I take it often enough for that to happen. You take it on an as needed basis and I usually don't have to take it all day (says to take it every 4 hours but one pill works for me). I'd suggest talking to your GI about how to treat your frequency.

Well no one's smell good. Have you been tested for parasites? That's the only thing of the top of my head that could make it smell horrid, that or sometimes blood too.

mornings are the worst for me too, seem to be a bit better once ive been a few times and cleared out.

Mornings are the worst for me generally.. when I am flared it just never stops all day and night. When I worked I had to plan sometimes 2-3 hours of sit time before I could get ready. Now I don't plan anything for before about 10:00 am if it can be helped.

In the days when I had more control over my symptoms, I found having my main meal at 6-7pm and then nothing afterwards, until breakfast, worked to cut down the toilet trips in the morning.

Hmm never really with going to the toilet.

But when I have a flair I always feel like I want to vomit all morning. The only time I didn't feel like this is when I woke up late. Very weird.

I too have my issues in the morning. I wake up early so I can have everything out of my system before I have to go to work. I am usually pretty uncomfortable until after things get moving too. Since I started taking Lialda I did notice that if I take it at night, I have my potty time at night and if I take it in the morning everything happens in the morning.
I enjoy having that kind of control over things though. Very empowering...ha ha.

My regular routine is going in the morning, usually after my first cup of coffee.....usually just once, sometimes a 2nd time after I get to work (I AM in remission thanks to Remicade!).....

As far as the smell - sometimes I'm fine, others my husband wants to kick me out to the sofa (or to another room/house!).....no noticed rhyme or reason.....

Lucky you!! If I could drink coffee I'd be in heaven... I used to love it, but Crohn's has decided that coffee is no longer on the menu. Ever.:(

AGREED!

The only time I had coffee in the past 2.5 yrs was when I was at MayoClinic and they demanded a stool sample. I told them to give me 20 mins, went down to the cafeteria, bought the coffee, walked back to the pharmacy and asked for the stuff. Really quite amazing.

:( Now I want a coffee :(

Mornings are also the worst for me. I usually get up around 5:30 AM (have to be to work by 8:30 AM), so that I have a good few hours to get everything out. I also take Lomotil, as Crabby said, and it does tend to constipate me if I take it for a few days in a row (I'm also on Entocort and Amitriptyline, both of which tend to constipate as well, so I think that's why the Lomotil makes me constipated after just a couple days of use).

Oh, and I cannot do coffee either. It goes right through me in about 2 minutes. I've given up caffeine altogether at this point - I only drink water, gatorade/pedialyte, decaf tea, and Ensure.

Morning are worse for me which makes it difficult getting the kids ready and out for school. I get up quickly get there breakfasts then am stuck on the loo for ages, come down make sure they getting dressed, toilet again, leave the house praying I make it to school in time before going again. I don't eat during the day so that I can attempt a normal life, but evenings and mornings are toilet controlled.

The AM used to be my best time, then BAM the gates would open and was most of the time at the worst timing possible, LOL.

I can tell you I know where all the rest rooms are in all the public places are around me and the quickest way to get to them, LOL

I still haven't gotten over my dislike of public washrooms, however I now have no issues going at work.
There was a period when I'd leave at lunch time, take a cab to my girlfriend's place, use her toilet, and head back to work.

We could compare maps, maybe start an app like, "QUICKEST POOP PLACE", I am sure it would be a hit with us.

Only thing is I can not tell you the number of steps to the rest room.......but, I can tell you how many times I said. "Please, let me make it - PLEASE".

They have an app called "Sit or Squat" that helps with us. People can review the toilets, post photos, comment, etc. Not a whole lot of people use it around where I live to it's not a big help. Definitely recommend looking into it though.
