Most efficient way to take Pentasa 4x/day?

Was just wondering if anyone is on Pentasa 4x per day...every 6 hours...what is the best way to take it without having to wake up in the middle of the night to take a dose???

I'm currently taking does at 9 and 3 everyday...I go to sleep around 10 and wake up for work at 6. I can take it at 6 when I get up, but then I have to go to wake up at midnight to take it.

If you have a better idea, HELP!!!!

I had exactly the same question and my nurse told me it's fine to take double the dose every 12 hours. Makes life ALOT easier. So I take 4 tablets 2x a day. Much easier.

Generally speaking, when doctors say take 4 times a day, they mean during the waking hours! Especially woth a medicine like Pentasa that is slow release anyway! So I was taking mine at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bed. Now my dose has been lowered I take 6 tablets a day, 3 with breakfast and 3 with dinner.

Me, I get up at 5 a.m., swollow the pills, go back to sleep. Next doses at 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. It sucks but it works!

My daughter is on 4 500mg tabs of Pentasa daily. We take 2 in the morning, and two about 12 hrs later.

when I was on 2x4 a day I'd take one set in the morning then every 3hrs afterwards (or double up the last dose if I forgot to take any throughout the day)

Hi I work as a pharmacist and we advise that if taking medicines 4 times a day take then every 4-6 hours so they are all taken during waking hours but you shouldn't be getting up to take medicines (unless your dr advises you to do this). Hope this helps
