I am thinking about a second opinion for Anthony. Although going to Mt Sinai would require more travel, I would love to have him seen there because the program sounds great and they seem to have everything covered right there (nutritionist, social workers, etc.). I am not really thrilled with the doctors we have been dealing with ... it has been three months and he hasn't had any bloodwork drawn since his hospitalization in September (shouldn't they be checking for deficiencies, etc?) and everything seems to be moving like molasses. Meanwhile, each day seems to get more and more difficult for him.

That said, of course, they don't accept my insurance. I asked what the cost would be for a consultation out of pocket, or if they had any type of financial assistance, and they emailed me that I could see their "fellow".

Does anyone know what that means?

And if anyone currently has their child seen there, how was/is your experience?

Mt Sinai

We live in St Louis Mo but took our daughter to IBD kids when she was in New York for the summer. They were fantastic I was very impressed. They alo did not take our insurance. I think the initial visit was $500 and then 100 something for follow ups. The fellow is basically a doctor who has completed residencey but is doing an extra year or 2 or 3 of specialized training. Hope this helps. I wish we could go back there now. My daughter is in the hospital again with all kinds of issues.

Thanks Kim,

I responded to you on my other thread regarding your daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with you for tomorrow's surgery!

Congrats Kelly,

I hope they offer you a treatment plan you both can live with or at least settle your concerns on the course of action you decide to take!

Thanks Nica!!!! I hope so too!

Especially since three calls to his Ped GI today about his condition, and no call back. Grrr.
