I know we've all talked about this before. I can't find it! Is there a reason to do MTX with no preservatives? Our pharmacy apparently didn't have the non preservative kind and faxed our GI to see if the other was ok to fill instead. Now it has me thinking if I'd rather wait for the other.

Also... Since the pharmacy messed up and didn't order for us we missed our mtx shot day. (Each week) and we are at almost 2 weeks by the time we get it. Does this cause a problem with MTX?

I think we concluded that if the MTX does not contain a preservative, then it is likely in a single use size vial, and thus requires no refrigeration. If it does contain a preservative then it is probably in a vial big enough for several doses, and would require refrigeration after the first use. That's what I took away from the prev discussion, but I could be wrong.
I would be inclined to get the one with the preservative rather than wait 2 weeks, but you should check with the dr. Perhaps there's insurance restrictions too, as the one with the preservative may come in a bigger vial (your insurance may only cover so much of the med per month).

We have skipped a week before when M was sick (fever), making the interval between shots two weeks or so. The doctor was not worried about her skipping a week, as far as I remember.
I think we used the kind with a preservative (multi-use). Just make sure you know which kind you get -- once we were given a single use vial and the pharmacy forgot to tell us and covered up the words "single use" with a sticker! Completely ridiculous.

Missing a week isn't a crisis. Of course, like anything it has to build to becoming therapeutic.

Claire's doc always wants us to get preservative free. However, at one point, there was a shortage and he agreed to us using the other until preservative free was available again.

Hugs,

J.
