Seriously, my butt hurts today. When I go to the bathroom, which I have gone 3 times already and only been up 2 hours, it really hurts. Literally feels like I have a cut down there. I have had diarrhea today, but it hurts when I go and there is blood. This is odd for me because I am not a bleeder. The blood is bright red so I know it isn't deep. What could it be from though? It hurts even after I go. My symptoms have been under control lately. I have been in "remission." Today is the first day in a few weeks that I have had diarrhea. I hope this doesn't mean that I am going to relapse. I haven't eaten anything bad in the last couple of days either.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Calmoseptine for the hurtful butt (not only is it a moisture barrier, but it cools the area), also Cottonelle wet wipes are amazing. They have Preparation H wipes that are nice too, but a lot more expensive.

Sorry to hear of the painful butt... I think thats one of the worst symptoms of Crohn's... give me tummy pains all day as long as I can poo without pain.

Ha, I was coming here to basically make a similar post. Yesterday I was in paaaaaaaaain -- I ended up borrowing some of the baby's Desitin. :X Even wiping with wipes was causing stinging. Thanks to Katiesue for the advice. Definitely going to have to try that.

I second Katie's Calmoseptine rec. Gooood stuff!
Sometimes I will even use wet toilet paper and just blot it on there to wipe if I'm too sore. Dry well and then slap on that Calmo!
Another idea if it hurts to wipe is to actually sqeeze some desitin on the paper before you wipe. Then it will wipe smoother, and your next wipe will be smooth too. Ahh.. how fun it is to give butt wiping advice.

You went from remission to this? I think unfortunately you're flaring. I can't speak of any other advice than what's been said already, and also when the pain is that persistent (as in it's not temporary) I simply take pain medication (tylenol etc..) otherwise I run out of any creams too fast, because when I'm going very frequently, I go too often to allow anything to be down there locally for any sufficient amount of time. It's just not ideal to reapply ointments when they're being wiped/washed away three times an hour, and it's expensive too. Not that they wouldn't work, but to put it simply, reapplying creams and ointments every few minutes is just a pain in the ass. :)

Thanks for all the advice. I am hoping this passes quickly. Overall I feel great. My butt just hurts! Totally sucks! I don't even really want to sit after I go.

You guys are my only butt buddies. I know the last thing my friends want to talk to me about is my butt hurting!

fistulas or an abcess perhaps?? sounds like it is in your colon which is good at least...in a way...mmm maybe time to invest in a sitz bath. wonderful things.

sitz baths are a good idea and hey i discovered that you can buy them at home health stores. saw them in a store near me a few days ago.
idk if anyones ever mentioned that before, but i didnt know where you could get them except by being a patient in a hospital
hopefully theyre not too expensive, but i can see them charging a fortune for what is essentially a plastic bowl.
