I was diagnosed with crohn's when I was thirteen and I am seventeen now. At first I was treated with prednisone and symptom wise- I FELT GREAT. But of course the side effects were atrocious. Then I was took off prednisone and I was put on pentasa and mercaptopurine. I've been on the same stuff ever since. And my symptoms are the same as when I was first diagnosed. My meds don't HELP AT ALL. I actually feel worse. My doctor won't change anything, she thinks my condition is not severe enough to go on something different. ( I suggested remicade) I still have diarrhea and cramping regularly. I'm worried about when I go to college and having to deal with these symptoms. I have been schooling at home because of my crohn's and my anxiety. I just want to feel better and I think my doctor thinks I'm being whiny. What should I do? Has anyone had this problem before? Is it normal to not feel any better despite your medications?
