Hello, my name is Brittany. Ive been reading posts from this site for nearly two months. I hate to self diagnose but it kinda all fits. But the problem is my symptoms have only been going on since end of september, many people on this site will have it years till they get diagnosed! So this is why I want to get feedback..from the people who know best and I might not be alone! Its been incredibly tough and not even close to- again, those who are so strong dealing with the disease for years,
I am 21, and first symptom was abdominal pain near belly button after eating, along with diarrhea. I thought I caught the flu! Two weeks later, wont go away? (Plus MAJOR mucus in my stool.)
After visits with the doctor I was perscribed a laxative... I ended up having serious constipation for nine days.. I started to call in work sick regularly now.. cause the nausea was getting too regular and always occurred in the mornings and evenings..but at this point ill have one meal in the day. Ive lost my appetite, and lost 30lbs now. I feel if I try to eat something in the morning if im at work, like a orange..ill have diarrhea three times. It will be up as 6 times before dinner. I work in a shop, as a welder and its embarrassing to run to the bathroom so many times infront a shop full of men!
And then I stopped eating at work and yes just have the one meal in the day. Ive been sticking to gluten free diary free diet,(since the begining) no fruit, always gave me the worst diarrhea, when im not having my constipation episodes. Then I started getting visible blood in my stool. Thats when I finally got myself a gi specialist appt. This was three weeks ago. He believes it could be ulcerative collitis or crohns in my large intestine. Ive been tested for celiac and it was negative and currently doing stool test to find blood but I havent finished the rest of two days in the test cause again, im constipated now. (i just took laxatives today again) but I dont wanna be so dependent.... Im really tired of this and confused. Ive taken ultrasound on my abdomen. I havent got results back on that and blood test and obvious not on the stool yet...cause im waiting to get the stool test done when the laxatives kick in....then ill see the specialist again. He said if one of the three
tests come back postive for obvious inflamation then he will schedule a colonscopy.
I just want this stool test done already and get answers, what if there negative? Was it all in my head? I havent been to work in four days.. im living off gravol. I feel my worst in the evening after I eat and throughout the night and into the morning, so I dont go to work..i never thought crohns could be the possibility till my mom told me we have a family member who has it. Ever since I found this site and it almost fits. Thank you for reading!! Very much appreciated.
