Been about 3-1month now since i started my tpn..

I have gained 10 pounds, and feel a WHOLE bunch stronger.
Im still extremely underweight.. but its a start.. I started eating again.. Starting out small though..

I did almost redline at my iron infusion which was the scariest situation i ever been through. they said i had a sever anaphlyctic reaction but my throat didnt close.. broke out in hives and hit 180 HR.

Other then that, just had a remi infusion and seems to be helping..

I see DR. Rubin at the university of Chicago Sept. 14th... To see what he recommends.

!!!!!
this happened to me as well!
years ago, i was 10 or so and in the hospital for severe flare up and they decided to give me iron infusion. well as soon as the drip started....i couldnt breathe, my chest felt like a rock, it was such a strange dizzy but not dizzy at the same time....ugh i dont even know how to explain it. i could barely mouth to my brother (who was the only one in the room with me "go get mom and dad". i felt paralyzed. years later we found out that an anaphlyctic reaction to iron isnt totally uncommon.

more recently though, ive had about 8 infusions and been fine. i was hesitant to try it again, but over the years theyve changed the composition on the iron or something and have greatly reduced the number of people that react to it, so they convinced me that it was worth another shot.
thankfully, that fixed it for me.

when did this happen for you? if it was a long time ago, then it might be possible for you to have it again if need be.

either way, thanks SO much for posting that! it gives me a lot of validation, a couple docs thought that my reaction to it wasnt really a big deal. they even got mad that my parents had shut off the iv pump without "permission". i would say that a reaction like that is permission enough, sheesh...
