It's about the size of a women's thumb nail.

So I did a CT scan with contrast, I have a small hole in my colon.

I'm at the hospital no food is allowed or drinking.

I think it's called a "fluke" parasite, however I cant find a picture on the net showing a fluke with the "e" on the back.

Anyone know of this parasite?

Anyone know how bad this type of parasite would effect someone with UC?

I am not a microbiologist, and this is abosolutely beyond my specialty, but the most common flukes that infect humans are

1) Paragonimus Wetermani- Usually a lung fluke in humans, but can be shed in feces
2) Schistosomiasis- which can get in the blood, and has been associated with bladder cancer in Asia, but I don't recall if it is found in the GI tract or not
3) Fasciolopsis Buski- which is an actual intestinal fluke
4) Fasciola Hepatica- A liver fluke

I'm sure there are others I cannot recall off the top of my head. Keep in mind that their appearance often changes depending on what stage/age they are at. I cannot tell you what they heck that is a picture of. But if you are in a major teaching university hospital, the micro lab should be able to ID it for you.

Ha, I'm in a 40 bed hospital, trying my best to get transferred to mayo clinic in Jacksonvile fl.

Thanks for your help.

I'm frustrated with mayo because they act like they don't want me, and they act like my local general surgeon can handle the surgery.

My local on staff surgeon here says if I was not so heavily eroded by UC he could help me, but he can not operate on me as the best available surgeon.

My GI who is working with my surgeon says I need to pack up and go to mayo.

It's really frustrating that I can't receive the care I need. I have excellent insurance, as well as Medicaid hospital coverage.

Thanks for the help.
