Hi,

I have just managed to have a quick look at my colonoscopy report and it says "Diagnosis: Indeterminate Colitis" What does this mean? I have googled it but getting mixed info, can anyone help?

Indeterminate Colitis means that it is colitis(inflammation of the colon) of undetermined source. Sometimes when they are unable to differentiate between CD or UC you can get this diagnosis or if the inflammation doesn't fit the parameters of either disease.

Here is a link to our wiki pages on indeterminate colitis

http://www.crohnsforum.com/wiki/Indeterminate-IBD

This means that there is Inflammation of the Colon, but it is not possible to determine if it is caused by Crohn's disease or Ulcerative colitis.

Indeterminate Colitis occurs in approximately 5% of Inflammatory Bowel Disease cases.
