Hi all,

Yesterday I had a colonoscopy as i've not been on medication lately, but the results came back clear. It was great new to hear but today i've been feeling like i have been for the past year. Ill.

Anyone had a clear colonoscopy but still had symptoms?

I'm going to ask my doctor for a capsule endoscope as that checks the whole lot (don't know why the colonoscopy is standard when it only checks 1.5 metres out of 5 of the intestines)...

P.S I HAVE had a colonoscopy and barium meal before that showed crohn's.

Is your Crohn's in the terminal ileum, Jamie? Sometimes they can't reach that far with the scope. I had a clear scope just before my surgery, but when they went in to operate on a fistula that had showed up on an MRI, they found inflammation in the TI that they weren't expecting.

Hi Jamie,

I can relate to this as I have had two endoscopies, two colonoscopies, x-rays and MRI scan, non of which showed up anything that correlated with the pain/inflammation I was experiencing. It was only after a CT scan that they got to the bottom of things for me.

Hope they manage to figure things out for you.

My Barium Meal showed narrowing in the Terminal Illium, which was then confirmed with a colonoscopy. That's when i went on Pred followed by Azathioprine. I then lost a lot of strength and had to come off them. My energy levels came back up a little and GI said he wanted to do another colonoscopy (the one discussed above) as now off the meds. Which came back negative. I've been off the aza for about 3 months now and not feeling that great. I could be in a remission but still feel crappy i suppose. This disease isn't so black and white is it :/

Yes!! My colonoscopy was clear last month yet I have occult blood in stool! I'm doing endoscopic camera tomorrow, and will post back! I'm anemic, tummy pain in upper right and joint pain. (I've had mild Crohn's on and off for 15 plus years so couldn't believe this last colonoscopy was CLEAR!!

My daughter last colonoscopy was visually clear but one biopsies come back showing inflammation. Her crohn's is located 20 cm above where a colonoscopy can reach.
