Nervous

So a few months ago I had really bad , painful and urgent diarrhea and it lasted for about a month or so after almost everything I ate and randomly , at night too. Ive had a bout of this before. So I went to the doctor about it. I havnt had diarrhea in about four months but ive been constipated? Like it hurts to poop and is hard to push out even if I need to go or if it's soft . A lot of the time my stool is soft but with hard bits in sorry it's gross :( is it constipation? Even if I still go fairly frequently ? I'm extremely well hydrated so it can't be that. Also ive had painful lower/ mid back ache for four months too . I'm getting a camera on Thursday and I'm so nervous because it's embarrassing. I'm 16. I don't have to have the camera it's more for reassurance because the doctor thinks it's ibs but I told him my stools were normal in between diarrhea when ive actually been white constipated :( am I right to get the camera ?

I also recently started tasting blood then spitting it out a bit once I got up from laying down but ive got a sinus infection s maybe it's that? Am I just overreacting ? :(

Please don't be embarrassed. We've all been through this many, many times.Your dignity is paramount to the medical staff and you will be treated with consideration. It's their job,and they will have seen countless rear ends on a daily basis. You will be covered discreetly. It's a good thing having the colonoscopy,so they can check for inflammation in your colon. It doesn't hurt and you can have sedation to relax you.You must have someone to drive you home afterwards though. The day before will be Prep. day.And I won't lie to you, this can be unpleasant. You will have to drink a certain amount of foul tasting liquid, mine tasted like lemon wallpaper paste (I think) which will make you run to the loo frequently until your bowel is empty and clean.Your bottom may become sore so use wet wipes and a baby crème to make things easier. You will get advice when you get your prep.mix.Please try not to worry, not easy I know, but it's better to get things sorted sooner rather than later. Please keep us posted, because you can help others who are in a similar position. We do have a "Young Adults"thread which you will find useful,Best wishes, feel better soon.

I remember being 17 and being told I had to have a colonocopy and told the doctor there was no way they were sticking a camera anywhere in there. But after some convincing from family I did it. And honestly the stuff they give you, you really don't remember much. Yes it seems a bit embarrassing but they are there to help. Over the years I've learned to leave my pride at the door and pick it up on my way back out. Hell I even joke around with friends now when I have to have one. I just had the small scope done a few days ago and that one your awake for so I could watch on the screen. Was kinda funny cause the first thing on the screen was my doctors face lol then you see your rear end. Sometimes humor is the only way to look at things like this. At least it works for me. And just remember your not alone and many people have had this before and more then once speaking from experience ;)
