I had a colectomy 1 month ago, they take down my colostomy and made new ileostomy on the right side. I had proplems with fistulas, wounds and PG with my colostomy. Anyway, surgery itself went well, didn't have my 3cm long spouty stoma cos my blood flow was compromised so i have quite flush stoma but no leaks so i am fine with it! Stoma started working right after surgery and i was out from hospital abou 6 days.

Anyway. After two weeks i started getting pain that i knew was Pyoderma. Started prednison orally 60mg and topical steroid cream in the wound. I have been jsing those two weeks and pg only getting bigger :( i am seeing dermatologist and gi next monday. What should i ask or expect? Protopic cream? Is it helpful? I have had two ccolostomys before that and everytime after surgery i flare with pg. Other two times prednison orally has helped quite fast tho. I don't have very fast transit time with my ileostomy so i asume pills get absorped.

I do like ileostomy more than colostomy tho so that's positive.

Just so sick of these painful ulcers. There is picture on my profile. File name ileostomy PG.

I have had bouts of getting ulcers on my legs, one was so bad, I was hospitalised for 10 days .
I found Protopic cream to be very effective, when I was getting a lot of ulcers, I had cream at home on stand by and would dress the ulcer as soon as it appeared, if I caught it quickly, it would be gone in a week, no steroids required.

That sounds very good!!! I am def asking for protopic on monday when i see my dermatologist and gi. I got my blood test results and no antibodies to humira so i get to start that too on monday, yay! Hopefully that boosts those ulcers getting better. This is nightmare realky. I was at the hospital last time i flared with PG too. Thank god not now since i am only month away from my surgery.

Other than pg i am feeling good :)

Now i have been using Protopic since monday. Well, just 2 times i have put it cos i change my bag every other day. I hope this helps. I was able to start Humira again on monday cos i didn't have antibodies so i hope it will help too. This Pyoderma is so nasty and painful.
