Depending on where your disease is, you may be having trouble absorbing nutrients. Try experimenting with shakes like Complan or Nutren (get them from the chemist), tgey contain nutrients in an easy to digest form. Also try eating little and often and snacking through the day. Where abouts is your disease? What treatment are you currently on? And do you have any other symptoms at the moment?

hi rebbeca, thks i hav been out today and brought some complan, medication
im on is mesalazine 400mg 1or 2, 3 times a day, im not sure what stage im out as never been toldt i, the disease is in my small bowel large bowel ok
had stomach cramps last week into this, but i did eat some nuts within a cake which i never had been able to tolerate nuts

hi Chris, & welcome to the forum - i hope you get to learn everything you need to cope with Crohn's here, and make some friends too :)

even though you've got your diagnosis, you're still in the very early stages of life with Crohn's, so i think my advice would be to use the time you have between now and seeing your nurse in February (am wondering why it's a nurse you're seeing and not a consultant, by the way) as a learning curve and information gathering period.

what i mean is.. get yourself as much information as you can, on how Crohn's works, how it affects us, what makes it worse and what helps (generally, we're all different but some things are universally positive/effective for us Crohn's sufferers).

and also make a diary.. of everything you eat in your day, all the effects those foods have on you, and how you feel physically and emotionally. the diary will be really useful for you to look back and see if there's a pattern there, and also it might prove very useful when you next see your nurse or doctor.

you might find that even after filling in the diary for just a few days, you'll see a marked reduction in calorie intake, or quantity intake - & this could well be a factor in your current weight loss. Rebecca mentioned eating little and often - i think this is the best way to go (we call it grazing sometimes), just little easily digested snacks like cream cheese on toast, or a soft banana, or a scrambled egg, or a biscuit & cup of tea, or glass of milk (if you're ok with dairy).

i often mention fluids here, and that's another reason why you could be losing weight and your skin seems wrinkly... make sure you're drinking plenty every day.. sipping slowly is just as effective as having a whole glassful - it doesn't matter how you do it, but make sure your fluid intake is up.
