Hi... recently I was very I'll, hospitalized and after a week of poking and prodding and tests the GI specialist tells me its IBD, specifically Crohn's. I've had stomach issues my entire life so I wasn't terribly surprised... I was eventually sent home with pentasa 500 mg 4 x a day and iron for anemia and prilosec and of course 3 different antibiotics.

I'm finally not nauseated, but I have what feels like a very constant cramp just above the belly button...I'm also at a complete loss as to what to eat... just have no appetite...

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

"Poking and prodding and tests," is something we can all relate to! Glad to hear that your nausea has gone away. Have you spoken to your GI about the constant cramp? Have you noticed in the past that any specific foods aggravate or calm your stomach?

May I ask what the antibiotics are for?

Sarah... thanks for the welcome !!! I see him next week and plan on asking him exactly that... my assumption was that the antibiotics were to stop the inflammation/blood in the stools... I don't do well with dairy, but yogurt seems OK in small amounts. Nothing spicy or I'm in pain...pretty much everything I'm used to eating seems to be off the table so to speak. Its only been about a week since I got out of the hospital so I'm just really overwhelmed...

They didn't give you Prednisone or Entocort (steroids)?

Have you tried to eat a little bit of yogurt? The hungrier I get, the more nauseous I feel - you might have something like that going on. Just nibbling on a bit of something could help calm your stomach. Just avoid things you know are bad for you - dairy, spices, probably raw veggies and fruits right now, too.

Hi sv and welcome to the community. Thank you for joining though I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

Is the GI that saw you at the hospital and the one who gave you the Pentasa going to be your regular GI? If not, are you scheduled to see a new GI soon?

All my best to you.
