Heeey everyone! My name is Cas. I am 24 and am married to a wonderful man who is in the Coast Guard. We are currently living in Wisconsin but I was born and raised in Ohio.

I was just recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I've had digestive issues since I was around 16 years old. I had my gall bladder removed when I was 18 and then went undiagnosed for years. I've had some scary hospital visits and some even more scary nights of severe abdominal cramping. It wasn't until recently that I visited the ER and was admitted and they finally figured out it is Crohn's. It is a relief to finally know what is causing me so much pain but as I'm sure you all know it is not a quick fix. I am now taking Prednisone and Apriso and will be seeing a GI specialist soon.

Glad to be a part of the forum and can't wait to learn more from all of you!

welcome to the forum seamarie!

everybody is lovely on here and will be happy to offer advice on meds etc..
im sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but hopefully the meds can help you feel better :)

this is also a good place to vent if things get tough too ;)

Welcome to the forum Cas!

I am glad you finally got a diagnosis. Many of us also experienced many of our symptoms prior to getting a diagnosis. It can be a stressful and scary time!

It looks like things are moving fairly quickly to ensure you are getting the right treatment. If you are curious to learn more about how others have done on the medications you are currently taking I suggest you check out our IBD treatment forum.

We are glad to have you with us also so feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: The Pred should definetly do a good job of bringing down the inflammation and you should hopefully soon feel the benifit of it. Out of interest were you given a calcium supplement to take with it? If not please make sure you bring this up when you see the GI, have you been given an appt date yet? Really glad you have joined us, have a good look round the forum - especially the diet and treatment forums and there will be some helpful info for you there :)

I wasn't given a calcium supplement, but maybe I will look into picking one up! I am only being treated by a general surgeon at the moment. I have an appointment with him in 2 weeks and plan to ask for a referral to a specialist!

Not too long a wait for the appt although it will still seem ages when really you want to know now the plan of action in getting back to a good place. Not sure what kind of over the counter stuff is available for calcium so please check with the pharmacist before taking anything. They may say you need a script from the doc but it is worth checking out.
