Ok folks...

Still trying to taper off pred here and I'm on my 2nd day down to .5 (my 3rd attempt mind you...)

And I have this new pain in my lower left side. I woke up with it and it's not getting better after going to the rest room 2x. If it was on my right side I'd say it kinda felt like my stricture but this pain is on the opposite side and feels a little different. I can't tell if it feels different because its on the other side and I'm not used to hurting there, or if this is something new.

All I know is that if it doesn't ease off soon I'll have to make a lovely trip to the dr, which I'm not too keen on doing because I know they will want me to goto the ER and that is 150 dollars.

The pain is definitely in my gut (as a crohns person you guys know what I mean.) Although I did work out yesterday rather hard on the elliptical. But again this NOT muscular pain. Right now its slowly throbbing, it's more annoying pain than anything atm, definitely not a 6-7-8-9-10 type pain. More of a 3-5 depending if I move around or not.

Shesh, I just don't know. It's worrisome to me because I have not felt discomfort on this side before.

Anyways- that's my rant.

I had a very similar pain last year, but it went away after a week.

I asked my doc about it, and he said it sounded like an abcess on the gut. He booked me for a CAT scan, but it came out clear.

I was just starting antibiotics for fistula abcesses when I got the pain, so perhaps they killed this abcess too.

Hmmm thanks Dan. I'm going to get through the day and see how it is tomorrow. If its still nagging, I'll know its something "not temporary" and schedule something with my DR. I mean if its an abscess it won't come out and rupture in one day right?

is it in your upper left side kinda under your ribs? I"d get gas trapped there from exercise (runing) above my left side that felt like I was going to blow my intestines open.

I do sit-ups or just ride a bicycle. It relieves the pressure on my descending colon and i pass gas and I'm much more comfortable. Sometimes the big D comes along for the ride, but you usually know when that's on it's way down the pipes.

Sometimes not the most painless way to relieve comfort, but if you empty your insides and get an anti-inflammatory going it just might be in your benefit. It has been in my case through many disadventures with friends who didn't know I had these type of problems. Things can work out. It depends on what you're willing to do to make what you want happen I guess....or something???
