Hi everyone,
I've been reading this board for quite a while, and I just cannot believe all the things I've read - things that I've thought, felt, and had happen to me for so long! I don't know if I have Crohn's, although I had a colonoscopy about 4 or 5 years ago, they dx'd ibs at the time, wrote me a prescription for something - I'm afraid I can't remember what it was. I didn't get it filled, I decided that I would just try to control it myself. But as you all well know, it mostly controls you.
I had to really laugh at myself a few weeks ago; it was the end of the day, I had just gotten to my car in the parking garage, had to wait for my son to tell me he was ready for me to pick him up from school, in fact had to wait a bit too long - and I felt the all to familiar sensations in my stomach beginning. Almost like clockwork every day. And I thought, oh no, am I going to have to walk all the way back to my building, go up to the 12th floor to use the bathroom, then trek all the way back to the parking garage, drive to my son's school, pick him up, then drive 45 minutes home?! After about 5 minutes I realized, well, yes, I was! As I was walking out of the garage, I noticed, for the first time ever (in 8 years!), a door to the right that said, ladies room. I almost cried. And every day since then, I've been so happy that there's a restroom in my parking garage! That's when I realized, there's most to this than just my stomach being upset (every day.)
Every afternoon, like clockwork! off to the restroom. Doesn't matter what I eat, although lots of foods certainly aggravate it, make it worse, cause more pain.
I do have a couple of questions, though, for the medical professionals on the board. Does Crohn's cause joint pain? Like in the hands, fingers, wrists? And, I get sore, almost ulcerated areas on my bottom lip when my hands "act up." Has anyone ever heard of this?
And thank you everyone for sharing your stories!
