This is my first time on a Crohn's forum. I was diagnosed in 1998 after years of pain and misdiagnosises. I have tried every medicine under the sun. I am currently on Humira. I did have a few years of remission in the early 2000's. I have another colonoscopy set up next month and we are talking about surgery. So far I have lucked out with no surgeries or major complications. I found his forum when I was researching the SC diet. I ordered a few books on it and plan to start it in the coming weeks.

Hello Desiree, and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you need a surgery soon, but it really can help with the day to day crohns pain, when you don't have strictures as well. Are they recsecting much?
I'm only about to start humira soon, but I'm hoping that it saves having another resection, at least for a few years. How do you find humira? Does it help with the inflammation/bloating? Iv read many good things on this forum about it, but with major strictures, theres not much other then a recsection or diallaton.
I too plan to start scd soon. Hope you find plenty of support and info here. It's the first crohns forum I ever joined too, and it's wonderful.
Best wishes, and keep us posted on how you go with surgery. :)

Hi Desiree and welcome to the community :) We're honored that this is your first CD related forum and hope we can be of service.

How are you feeling these days? What's going on that surgery might be the next step?

We're here for you 24/7. Again, welcome!

So far I like the Humira. I was on Remicade for a year before I switched. I hated Remicade so I have not felt any side effects.

They are considering surgery because I basically cannot pass anything without taking laxatives and stool softeners. My doctor has already tried stretching out the area infected but the results did not last long. I am meeting with a surgeon after my colonoscopy to discuss what needs to be done.

Ah, sorry to hear that. I'm glad they tried dilation first, it sounds like you have a good doctor. Sometimes surgery is the best option though :) And it appears that you're in good hands.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and welcome to the forum :bigwave: I too am glad to hear that your doc tried dilation first - sounds like a good one, it is never great to have to have surgery but sometimes it is the best option. Wishing you all the best, please keep us updated on how you get on.
