:sign0085: I had my first Remicade infusion last Tuesday, I felt much better the next day. But now I am feeling run down again and the blood and blood clots have come back pretty heavily. I was so happy that the Remicade worked so well so quickly, but now I am feeling a little disappointed. I do go in for my next infusion next Wednesday. When I went for my first infusion the nurse told me I should start feeling better right away, and I did. I am just scared because it went away so quickly, I mean I only felt better for a week and I am suppose to go 8 weeks in between infusions after these first loading doses?!? What I was wondering is, is this normal? Should I feel better for longer after the next dose? Or does this mean it’s not going to work for me? Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all!

Dont judge how well it works after one dose. They do loading doses for a reason. Wait until at least the loading doses are done.

A loading dose is an initial higher dose of a drug that may be given at the beginning of a course of treatment before dropping down to a lower maintenance dose.[1]

A loading dose is most useful for drugs that are eliminated from the body relatively slowly. Such drugs need only a low maintenance dose in order to keep the amount of the drug in the body at the appropriate level, but this also means that, without an initial higher dose, it would take a long time for the amount of the drug in the body to reach that level.

I felt good for a few days after my first dose, and good after second dose.....but, not so great after third dose. Cant wait for my next treatment, hoping it gets things under control better than it has been

The good effects of Remicade seems to be getting better and better every dose for me. I've been on it for at least 8 doses. Hardly noticed anything during the loading period. The last dose I got has had the biggest impact.... So you see for me it's taken almost a year to start seeing a great response.

Be happy that you can tolerate it and it showed positive results.. After my first dose I went to the gym, only to relapse rather quickly. I have been taking it for 10 years now, and feel great.

Crohns10

Been on remicade since last June.

At first it caused me bad headaches and I was real tired for about 1 week after. Live being on a 5 day hike.

Now, only get mild headaches and do not feel tired at all.

Took about 4 treatments for most of this to go away.

Crohns10 I'm in a similar position as you. I just started Remicade a week and a half ago. I noticed an improvement the very next day. Well today I noticed some symptoms returning. My 2nd infusion is this week (2 weeks from the 1st) and then I think they plan on going 6 weeks before the 3rd infusion. I'm a little concerned about the duration between infusions considering I'm noticing symptoms a little over a week after the first infusion was done. I don't know exactly how the drug works but I guess once you get enough of it in your system it will last more than a week or two at a time.
