I am new to this group and only found it in my search for information.

I was diagnosed with Crohns in 1995, had a resection in 2005 and have been on Remicade infusions on a monthly basis for nearly two years.

The Remicade is working wonders with very few known side effects. My worry is what price am I paying for todays wellness by having these frequent infusions.

I look forward to reading the stories that others are sharing.

Hi vm

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad that the Remicade is working so well for you, and I get the concerns about the effects of it on your body in the long term. Using biologics is scary and liberating, all at the same time.

As Angrybird said, there's tons of helpful information on the Remicade subforum, with people trying to reconcile the wonders and dangers of Remicade.

Wishing you continued good health!

Greetings to you! I'm glad you found your way here :)

When I hear resection, I usually think terminal ileum. Is that what you had removed? If so, have you had your vitamin B12 levels tested (that's where it's absorbed). People with Crohn's Disease are often deficient and I like to make sure they are properly supplementing.

Again, welcome! I hope you become a regular part of the community.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and direction to more information. I did have a resection of the terminal ileum and it's been years since I've had my B12 checked. I have placed a call into my physicians office for that order.

Sounds great Virginia. When you get the eventual result, get the actual number. Don't let them tell you, "Low normal" or anything like that. Then, if you're comfortable doing so, share the number here and we can provide you some additional insight. :)
