Hello All,

Glad I found this forum, looks good that everyone can get together and discuss their individual circumstances.

I am undiagnosed currently. I have my first colonoscopy in August.

I have had symptoms for quite a while now, blood in stools, stomach pains and cramps, very bad heartburn etc. I have them all written down somehwere because I seem to have so many symptoms that I forget, certain symptoms go away for a month or so, then will come back.

I basically have a question for all you lovely people about symptoms.

It started about 2 months ago and has happened about 3 times since then so very rarely. It usually starts when im lying down, i start to get a tickly throat and have a little cough. Then all of a sudden I get an itchy chin and back, but not on the skin, its like inside where i cant get it. Then i will keep coughing and wheezing. Is this normal for digestive diseases, or is this something else?

I have also lately had this thing which is horrible where I get an awful pain in my jaw (right at the top near my ear) its so uncomfortable and lasts about 30 minutes, I usually get it after eating. Is this normal or is this something else?

I feel like im going crazy sometimes and that I have something else, I would like to know if other people have these symptoms or not becuse if not it may be something else. I seem to have so many symptoms and things that happen to me, it would really ease my mind to know they are all related and I've not got 6 different problems!

Hoping someone can help me here as I am really new to all this and I am usure what the future holds for me.

Thank you very much! :ysmile:

The tickling/coughing thing could be reflux oesophagitis .. As for the jaw pain, could be related to oesophageal irritation, but maybe talk to your dr to exclude any cardiac issues

I also have a little question about weight loss.

I have always been relitively small in build, but seem to have got even skinnier! If I am diagnosed with Crohns or some other digestive disorder, is there anyway I will be able to put on weight again, or any medication that can help with putting weight back on.

I have become really unconfident with the way I look and want to try and gain weight.

Many thanks!

Hi Jimbo and welcome to the forum :) I have not experienced what you mentioned in your first post so cannot assist there but with regards to weight loss than can happen if something is not right with the tum. What is you appetite like at the moment, are you still eating like you were before you starting to feel unwell?

Have any other tests been done by your doc and if so which ones? Is is a GI that has booked you in for the colonoscopy? Whilst not pleasant this can be a really good test to have to see what is actually going in inside and biopsies can be taken to assist with getting a definitive diagnosis.

I hope you can get some answers soon hun, keep us updated on how you get on.

Well I get stages of feeling unwell after eating, I wouldn't say its a sick feeling as such, just a strange feeling in the tummy.

In all honesty I eat so much food, I have a massive appetite and wouldn't say I am eating less. My girlfriend and my friends are amazed by how much I eat and how skinny I am. Its like my body just isn't absorbing anything from the food, if that makes sense?

Are there any ways I can help this? Maybe like mineral or vitamin tablets I can take? I feel like im fading away!

Thanks for the reply :)

Sometimes it can be a few days before I got to the toilet, other times I can go 3 times a day. Can be very loose also.

Not sure on what types of foods really, I have a very mixed diet. I do eat lots of rich foods, me and the gf like to cook a lot. Eat lots of pasta and chicken, tomatoey sauces to go with it. Lots of bread too for lunch and breakfast. Hard to say an exact type really.

I live near Cambridge :)

Hi Jimbo and welcome to the community!

I'm not sure what's causing the jaw issues/coughing (my GUESS would be something like GERD) but I can say that if you have some form of IBD like Crohn's Disease, that can indeed lead to your losing weight, often due to malabsorption of nutrients. And yes, with a proper treatment regimen, you can put weight back on. The disease can be under control and you can then absorb nutrients again which can help the weight come back. In addition, sometimes part of the treatment is to provide you additional nutrients such as via enteral nutrition.

Again, welcome to the community :)

I have to go to Harlow to Prince Alexandra Hospital, but I live near Saffron Walden (just south of Cambs).

Will be glad when i finally know what is wrong with me! :)
