Hey everyone!

After much surfing the net I have found this forum and felt that this might help a little. To see that I'm not alone. I was diagnosed yesterday and I'm really scared, the things I've read and the things that people told me! Surgeries, flares, more surgeries and more pain... this is all soo scary to me.

I was perfectly healthy and doing great in the years before 2010. I've had a couple and few incidents where I think were flares but I always thought that this was normal... This year I had a lot of pain and fatigue and couldn't hold food down. I had severe ab pains - I thought I had a tumor in my intestines or something. After a colonoscopy I was diagnosed and now on Pentasa 2x4 times a day and after 2 weeks I go back and see my doctor.

Also, I'm gay and I'm really freaked out that I will never find anyone who will live with me with this condition... It's still very fresh..

Thank you goes out to all you strong people suffering from this disease. You are my heros.

Hi and welcome!

We have all been where you are, I am newly diagnosed too and at first I thought life would be ruined! But really, don't worry! Medication is there to hopefully put it in remission, everyone reacts differently. You need to think positively.

The fact that you are gay should not really make a difference...relationships in general can be seen as hard when you have CD. However, male or female, if your partner/future partners care/love you enough as a person than CD shouldnt matter. obviously it can bring some stressful times but all relationships have stressful times anyway!!!

Hopefully this forum will help you, we all have different stories and everyone here is fantastic!!

Much love xox

Hi Lala,
Welcome to the forums. I really hope you start feeling better. Feel free to ask questions as I am sure someone here has dealt with it before.

It is perfectly normal to be scared when you are told you have a disease. Many people with crohn's live perfectly happy and normal lives with their disease barely being an issue. Keep in mind there are lots of treatments available out there, hopefully one of them puts you in remission and keeps you there!

Welcome lalala85.
There are a lot of heroes on this forum, and you are one of them just for being here. To sign up for a forum like this one, where you give support as well as receive, is a sign of good character. Thanks for being here.

Hiya: Welcome to the forum. We're glad to have you here -- but, sorry to hear you have Crohn's, of course. Many people thrive with Crohn's but there is often trial and error to find a treatment regime, and there probably will be ups and downs. We're in this for the long haul, which is why it's nice to have the support of others, such as here on the forum.

Take good care.

-Kelly

Tmgread: I really hope things get better. I've been on this flare for over a month. It really restricts the things I do. I'm not giving my 100% in anything I do anymore (full-time job), I'm either tired or in pain. I've been sleeping for long hours, and I've never slept more than 7 hours before. And you are totally right, if they can't handle it then they're definitely not the one. Thank you for your time... Hope you're doing good :)

roundtuit and kelly: Thank u for the kind words :) To see what you've been through and still strong - that gives me hope...

lala - It will take awhile for it to all process. It can be scarey. I'm 2.5 yrs in and still having trouble absorbing what I have and how to deal. This support forum is great though! The people here definitely help keep me strong and hopeful. Just remember that everyone comes with baggage. Someone will love you for who you are on the inside and out. If not, move along and keep looking. Oh, and this makes you your own hero now too. :)

I wouldn't get too worried. I am recently diagnosed... I was really ill for a time, but within two weeks of seeing my doctor and taking medication I'm pretty much well again.
I guess its all about finding the right medication but you can live a very ordinary life.
