I just found out today that I am diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. The doctor said that luckily they caught it in the very early stage. I am not very familiar with this disease. I am currently taking Pentasa and Lansoprozole (for an ulcer). I will be starting Entocort soon. My symptoms include minor abdominal pain and ocassional diarrhea.

What would you recommend doing from here on out? What should my diet include/exclude?

The only thing I know is that I'll have to take medication (Pentasa) for the rest of my life.

If anyone who has had this disease could respond and let me know what do expect, that would be great. Like I said, I'm a greenie when it comes to Crohn's!

Thanks! :thumright:

Welcome! Sorry about your diagnosis, but it sounds very mild, which is great. Pentasa is a standard drug for mild Crohn's and may work very well for you.

Diet is different for everyone. Some people see results with gluten-free, but it didn't help me at all. You need to keep a food/symptom log and see if you can figure out which foods bother you. A lot of Crohnies have issues with lettuce, red meat, caffeine.

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: Rubbish about the diasnosis but it's good they say it is mild. They key is to do all you can to try and keep it that way. Diet is a big key to this I think at this stage. As already mentioned keep a food diary. Wheat, caffeine and dairy can be key culprits as well as foods with little pips and seeds or nuts as these can aggrivate the bowel. Low fat and low fibre is what I was told to follow when I was first diagnosed. I hope the meds also start to kick in soon and let us know how you get on.
