Nortriptyline.

Strait from Wikipedia:

Nortriptyline is a second-generation tricyclic antidepressant marketed as the hydrochloride under the trade names Sensoval, Aventyl, Pamelor, Norpress, Allegron and Nortrilen. It is used in the treatment of major depression and childhood nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting). In addition, it is sometimes used for chronic illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic pain and migraines, and labile affect in some neurological conditions.

Has anyone been prescribed this medication for Pain before? Or has my Doctor lost his mind? I dont like the idea of an antidepressant being prescribed for pain, especially when at times, when the pain is really bad, 12 Norco's in a day are JUST ENOUGH to keep me sane.

nobody else is on this stuff eh?

maybe my doctor is a wacko.... good thing i got out of there when i did.

Allegron

Hi there
Just noticed your pst when I was googling Nortriptoline..after being in hosp the pain specialist suggested this only 10mg dose though for pain the depressant dose is 45mg!

Hope that helps

I was given this to help me sleep and help with my pain for lower back. Not sure if it helped with pain, but it did seem to help me get to sleep faster. Had nothing to do with my Crohn's, before I was diagnosed.
