I'm guessing this is from the Imuran... but I've been noticing a weird smell in my urine and sweat. It's different than how it used to smell. Has anyone else noticed this?

yeah i've noticed that my pee is not only a weird bright dark yellow colour, but there is sort of a banana weird smell to it... i know for sure it's imuran, cuz i noticed the urine change immediately after i began taking this med. so weird haven't noticed any difference in the smell of my sweat though...

Yes, same here bright color urine and odd smell, although I have never noticed that my sweat smelled any differently. I have been on Imuran for a very long time, so maybe I just don't notice it as much.

Hmmm, my 5-ASA changed the colour of my urine, but I don't recall any changes in the brief time I took imuran. I do recall vaguely being advised to watch for changes in my kidney n bladder... so it might be wise to search the imuran website for info on this. It could be nothing, it might be something. And I'm very strongly advise 'MENTIONING' this to your doctor at your next visit. If not sooner.

Yeah, I will mention that next time. I feel like it's probably nothing abnormal, as I just got blood work done and kidney levels are fine. Thanks guys!

Imuran (and its cousins) are an auto-immune suppressants that can make your liver work harder than it used to, I believe. Doctors recommend that you limit alcohol intake, and to take the medicine with plenty of water. In any case, if your pee is that dark a yellow, then there are lots of toxins in it. Drink more water :)

My .02....or perhaps .0015 in this economy :)

I am purely speculating here, so don't take this as any kind of educated explanation...

The generic version of Imuran pills that I took were little yellow pills. Within an hour of taking them, my pee would be bright, almost neon, yellow. The color would gradually fade with each trip to the BR until it was back to normal before I took my pills the next day. I also notice a similar effect when I take certain B12 vitamins. Because the yellow color is so bright (not very natural), I always just assumed that it was a dye or some other additive that was added to the pill. Like I said, this was just some assumption that I made. I never seemed to be a problem, so I never really worried too much about it.

yes, i too originally just thought it was because the pills are yellow. because i started seeing the pee colour change after my very first dose, so it wouldn't have been in my system long enough to cause damage...so the only thing that makes sense is the colour of the pills
