Ok, its been 5 years since my last resection and it looks like another surgery is inevitable.. They now have me on Tramadol for pain and Metronidazole and also giving myself a shot of Cimzia once a month. The Metronidazole and the Cimzia isnt working at all. The dr says there is only one more medicine to try and then its surgery. I go see the dr this morning, so we will see what happens.

I'm sorry JK - I know the thought of that must not be very appetizing. May ask - are they saying you need surgery because you have a stricture that needs to be removed - or a bad active disease area? I'm always curious what ends up bringing people down to the need for surgery.

I hope you can get it fixed up with a medication - if not - maybe the surgery would give you a better quality of life. Either way - I hope you feel better soon!

Hi there, I know exactly how you feel. I was on Remi, and Humira and doc figured to skip the Cimzia and try VSL and Flagyl. For the most part it works and I really dont want a 3rd surgery for a resection... but I know some day it's gonna be in my future. I also have Tramadol but I am not crazy about it. I use Tylenol#3 for now but very low doses when I flare or my women's week.

Let us know what med your doc puts you on, I for one am very curious. Thanks for posting this info. Hope you get relief soon.

I have an ulcerated stricture from my previous resection "scar tissue" So, surgery is in my future. Starting this past Wed i had to stop eating solids because of pain. As of this past saturday i can no longer eat pudding because it hurts to digest it. So im now down to beef broth and mushroom soup. And i have to chew the mushrooms in the soup or they wont digest without pain. I go in the morning to talk with my doctor again and im almost certain surgery is only a week or so away.

any chance the strictureplasty can help? I think thats what they call it anyway. They pop balloons ins the spot to open it up or something like that.

Ok, i had a blockage that passed when i had to drink a gallon of contrast for a cat scan. "4- 32oz bottles in 15 minute intervals" The intestin still has a ulcerated stricture and surgery is in my future, just not today. Thanks everyone.
