Hi! Someone posted or I read an article somewhere that mentioned a new med that replaced Pentasa and was only taken once a day. I have a friend with a 12 year old who's really bad about taking his meds, and I told her I'd try to find out the name of the one a day pills. Can anyone help me? I tried finding the thread I thought I saw it in, but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance!!! Jenn

Like Wendy said, it's probably Lialda. Depending on your insurance, Lialda may not be covered or may be much more expensive for you.

Honestly, though, your friend should probably be more proactive about being certain the 12 year old is taking his meds. I understand differing parenting styles, but 12 year olds are absent-minded by nature and this is a life and death responsibility. We still keep after my 13 year old daily. She has a huge pill planner with 4 pockets for each day in it.

If you go with Lialda, try searching google for the Lialda discount program. If they're still offering it in the US, you can get a month's worth of pills for $10 every month for a year, assuming you have the prescription.

Thank you Wendy and Muppet! I sent the info on to my friend. I really think the Remicade and once a day mesalamine would be a better fit for him than taking the Pentasa 4x a day. I have extremely limited experience with teenagers though!

I take my Pentasa twice a day, I was told it didn't matter because it's slow release. And twice a day means his mum can remind him! Also a pill planner is a good idea because it makes it easier to check if he's taken it.

There is a drug called Apriso. I started taking it just once a day. The doctor took me of the Asacol. I as taking 4 times a day. I haven't noticed any difference in my symptoms. I was hoping it would make things better for me.
