I have an ileostomy but lately I have had constant bowel movements also... When I get an urge, I have to go straight away... Any one have advise for me please!?

Hi. Is anything else different? Pain, bloating, nausea? Someting you ate. Exposed to someone with the flu. Watch out for dehydration.
How long has it been going on?

Is it actually a BM or is it mucous? Many of us have mucous come out the back end frequently. When did you have your surgery? In the first few months I know I had some regular BM's out the back, but I had emergency surgery so they weren't able to clean me out beforehand. If you're really concerned about it, call your doctor and have them check it out.

If it's mucus - you might have colitis in the stump.
The stump can get irritated as it has no poop (there is some enzyme in the poop that calms it - and if it's not present because you're not pooping - it gets upset)
It can be treated very effectively with Pred or salofalk foam. Calms it all down and lessens the urgency.
Good luck and hope you get better soon.

Thank you for all your posts... I think it's bowel movement... im having about one or sometimes two a day for the last week... As well as a frequently working ileostomy... I had emergency surgery also 2 months ago when I got my ileostomy... I called my stoma nurse but because its a bank holiday here I will have to wait until Tuesday... im getting a scope Monday week so I'll get to talk to my surgeon then to.. Can you drink alcohol with crohns? I've a wedding in three weeks and I was just wondering... thank again everybody:)

I have mucous out the back end every day, and I got my stoma almost 4 years ago. Pretty much every time I go pee, I have some mucous. It's not much to worry about...mostly annoying...lol

I drink without any problems, beyond having one too many and having to empty or change my bag. I don't recommend doing that...lol

Oh my god brilliant thank you... I just getting used to the changes I wouldn't like to try do a change drunk... it could be messy.... :)

Have any of ye had reversals!? Im getting a scope to see if my stitches are healed because I had a fistula from
my ilieum to my colon... im still learning loads because I only got diagnosed with crohns 2 months ago...

Mine was reversed just over two months ago.
I have a sweet 20cm scar.
The ring mark from the sticky bits still hasn't fully faded.
Feeling great though.

That's brilliant samboi... another battle wound to add to the belly so... did you find the reversal bad? I'm looking forward to it but afraid at the same time... im looking forward to eating vegetables again... did it take long to recover after it? When could you resume work?

My stoma's permanent.

May I ask why you haven't been "closed up" down there?

I've got a permanent ileostomy and I'll be getting my rectum removed and my anus sewn up next week.

For what it's worth, since my mucus fistula closed up, I've been getting mucus output down there too... it's annoying because it's like Crohn's urgency... if you know what I mean.

Mine is temporary and I still have my colon... About a foot of intestines got removed and I've stiches on my colon due to a fistula been removed... I don't think my colon was effected with crohns it was just my large intestine... I went for a few drinks last night and I nearly died today... I think I would be afraid to drink again... :(

I still have my stump because my surgery was an emergency and they couldn't get permission from me to have it removed once they saw what was going on in there. I've had a consult with a surgeon to have it done, but haven't gotten around to doing anything about it yet.

That explains it.

I had a similar set of procedures back in February and March. Nothing but mucus during the 5 weeks in between. That was quite annoying.

Good luck on your recovery. It took 6 months for me to be pain and drainage free.
